about claire wallace
Claire grew up exploring and adventuring on the edge of the Rocky Mountains in Alberta, Canada. Understandably she quickly developed a passion for the outdoors which propelled her on a path towards field production. A dual Canadian and Swiss citizen, Claire has been working as a field expedition guide since 2015 and has guided extensively throughout the Antarctic and the Arctic regions of Iceland, Canada, Greenland, Svalbard, Northern Europe, South America, Africa and the Amazon.
Claire specializes in polar geopolitics and legal matters, and holds a master’s degree in polar law. Her research on Arctic Search and Rescue (SAR) has led her to Iceland, China and Greenland for extended periods in the pursuit of academia. Claire spent 4 years working full-time for the Canadian Coast Guard as an Arctic Search and Rescue Officer, specializing in Arctic mass rescue operations and exercising. Her team worked specifically on the topic of large-scale rescues in Canada’s Arctic. She collaborated closely with Canada’s military and other national/international SAR partners and is passionate about Arctic search and rescue.
Claire works with film crews on various projects and as a search and rescue technician providing SAR response consultation for the Canadian Coast Guard and as a rescue technician off the Libyan Coast for a Swiss NGO.
Claire now lives in British Columbia, where she passes all of her free time outside skiing, hiking, camping, biking and kayaking in the Coastal Mountains.
